O sets up as D gets down the pitch
O looks to centre the disc quickly. Cup sets up to force the disc to the sideline. Downfield cutters are slow to realise that it a zone is being played. Downfield markers set up to force deep.
(2r) moves the disc to the sideline, as the cup shows them to. Downfield markers are super tight, ensuring that no under cuts are available.
(1r) has no options downfield, allowing the cup to close in around them. (3b) has a hard around force. (2b) is stopping an inside throw, and (1b) is looking to stop a downfield throw. The 3 cup players need to be quite close together so that no throws can get through them.
(2r) realises that their mate needs help and gets right behind them for a dump.
The O takes the dump option, and looks to swing the disc. The cup instantly sets up to stop a pass back in the same direction- they want to force a swing.
As the defense wanted, (2r) swings the disc to the other side of the pitch. The cup makes their way across as the downfield markers switch mark side. At this point the downfield markers must be ready to chase down a huck.
(5b) marks out (5r), and (3r) doesn't get a hucking option, so looks to his handlers to help him out.
(3r) activates (2r), as more downfield options are marked out.
(2r) comes around to recieve a pop-pass. Again there isn't an easy pass open due to tight defensive marking taking away the unders.
(3r) looks for a pop-pass to help their mate, and to reset the stall count.
The O handlers again look to reset the stall count and pop it to each other again. The cup now looks to trap them on the sideline.
(3b) will now be very hard on the force to put the thrower under pressure and try to force an error.
SCENARIO 1: (2r) can't break the cup and so hucks the disc on a high stall count. Defender (6b) is ready for this and can get a block. TURNOVER.
SCENARIO 2: (2r) doesn't huck it.
(2r) finally manages to get a pass out to (3r) so (3b) instantly gets across to put off an easy swing.
The offense takes a loss of ground to get the disc off the sideline. The cup is now forcing a swing to the other side of the pitch.
The offense then take a further loss of ground to keep the disc moving across the pitch. Notice that (1b) sees (2r) behind them and alters their position to block this option.
(1r) could recieve a pop-pass and keep the disc moving here. (1b) sees this however, and gets across to put this throw off. As (3r) is looking for the pop-pass they delay the chance of a swing afforded to them by (7r) coming under. Notice that as (7r) fills in for (2r), (7b) swtiches to marking (2r) and leaves the swing option free.
The open (7r) gets a free pass, and hopes to make use of the space.
As (2r) has mistimed a deep cut just prior, they come under. Their marker ((7b)) has seen the space (7r) is in though, and is ready for a huck, so poaches off a little. (7r) does throw a huck, and (7b) and (4b) are there to make a block. TURNOVER.
