Red: 1 is the mark. Their job is to shade slightly to one side. They are marking more flat, but slightly to one side. This is so the top of the vortex, 2, can take care of that more open side. 3 and 4 are sides of the vortex. Their jobs are to block the up field throwing lanes. 5 and 6 are corners, who have the same responsibilities as in the cup. 7 is the deep who has the same responsibilities as in the cup.
If the offense crashes into the vortex, 2 (top of the vortex) is aggressive and steps into the middle of the vortex to keep the cutter from getting the disc.
If the disc is swung to the sideline, the vortex now begins to look like a traditional 4 man cup. This is a sideline trap and it is imperative the mark (1) does not get broken.
