red pulls to blue
2B centers to 1B as defense sets up.
1 marks straight up while 2 poaches the flick lane. 3 and 4 mark cuts to each side, not players.
so as a player, in this case 5B, cuts out and in, 3 will poach out to take him
like so
reset.
if a cut comes on the flick side, 4 takes that lane, along with 2.
like so.
7 is the last back to guard all deep cuts.
this is a very quick transition defense. after the initial cuts, 3 and 4 stay with those cutters and the defense adjusts to man D.
so this defense might look like this for a point.
6B cuts to backhand side and is covered by 3. all defenders shift up a bit to adjust.
as 6B clears out, 5 cuts to flick side and is covered by 4. defenders adjust once again, and now every has a dedicated mark.
force can switch to a more traditional style and play continues. this defense can shut down the pull play/first few cut options from a vert stack.
2 can also guard the dump better to discourage a dump throw and open the lane to a throw into a poach.
