Vertical Stack! 6,7 are handlers. 1,2,3,4,5 are cutters. 1 is a sometimes handler.
Notice: The stack slants just a little toward the "force side"
Notice: The second handler sets up at a 45° angle on the force side of the first handler.
Notice: the stack sets up about 15 yards in front of the primary handler.
This is how a defense will typically set up against a vertical stack. Man defense, forcing flick.
The #5 in the stack initiates this offense. Generally they make a fake either under or deep, and then go the other way to create an opportunity.
This offense creates one-on-one opportunities to beat your defender to the force side.
But what if you didn't get open?
If you tried to get open
And couldn't, or even if the throw just didn't come for you,
Your best idea is to get back into the stack.
This allows the offense to cycle, and now it's #4s turn to make a cut.
reset
If you made your cut
And the throw didn't come for you.
If you aren't returning to the stack immediately, you must clear
Maybe that's a good option for the situation.
But either way.
If you don't get the disc
Even if you were open
DO NOT DELAY IN THE LANE.
Get back into the stack
One last thing
Flip back through this and notice how much time the cutters spend in the stack.
There are moments where you'll feel like your not moving enough. That's okay.
