Step by step 19 steps
  1. Step 1

Red Team (Opponent) starts with disc

  2. Step 2

    Red team pulls

  3. Step 3

four cutters set up vertical stack, roughly arm's length apart. Handlers form a horizontal line

    12345671234567
  4. Step 4

If the last back (number 7) is being marked under, cut deep. If your defender lets you go - the disc will be thrown

  5. Step 5

If the defender if behind you...

  6. Step 6

    Just cut under

    12345671234567
  7. Step 7

Returning to the stack, let's do a quick demonstration.

    12345671234567
  8. Step 8

The last back (7) cuts in open side. The second last back (6) cuts under break side. The pass will likely go to number 7, but 6 may be available.

    12345671234567
  9. Step 9

If the pass is completed to either 6 or 7, then the last in the stack (5) cuts deep for a continuation pass, as well as 4 going deep

    12345671234567
  10. Step 10

Then the pass to number 4 may be available

    12345671234567
  11. Step 11

From here, there may be opportunities for more continuations as everyone runs up the field. Often, cutters may want to look for a handler for a quick dump pass, so that they may re join the stack. Notice that no one cuts up the open side marked by the triangles

    12345671234567
  12. Step 12

If there is no more continuations. The stack should reset. If a cutter has the disc, then one of the handlers will join the stack at the front.

  13. Step 13

From here, the play can be repeated until we are close to the end zone (unlike the diagram, it may take more than one time to reach the other end)

    12345671234567
  14. Step 14

Let's reset the stack and talk about what to do if no passes can be made.

    12345671234567
  15. Step 15

For the two cutters (6 and 7): You make the cut but do not get the disc

    12345671234567
  16. Step 16

The stack (so 4 and 5) should move up to allow you to return to the stack. This keeps the field open.

    12345671234567
  17. Step 17

From here, IF the handler is still looking up field, then 4 and 5 can cut as normal.

    12345671234567
  18. Step 18

IF the handler is looking at the other handlers, they should stay in the stack.

    12345671234567
  19. Step 19

The handlers will perform a 'reset cut', which is a short pass meant to reset the stall count. Once this pass is complete, then the cutters may do their cuts as normal
