Step by step 16 steps
  1. Step 1

Blue on offense, ho stack. Notice how the defense is taking away the "most dangerous" area. The stack has to make cuts to open up space for a clean throw.

  2. Step 2

O4, O5, and O6 must work together to open up the space in front of the disc. To do that, O5 and O6 initiate. GENERAL RULE: If you are the cutter in front of the disc on the open side (O6 in this set), you need to cut OUT of the space to allow for a throw to space to your teammates.

  3. Step 3

If D6 is being lazy, and O2 is capable of breaking their defender, O6 needs to be ready to catch the disc!

  4. Step 4

This allows O6 an easy continue to O4.

  6. Step 6

Now let's say the throw to O6 doesn't happen. The good news is that they've opened up the space for...

  7. Step 7

    the open-field throw to O5!

  8. Step 8

Once O5 catches, they should look to continue to O4, and O6 should play off of that.

  9. Step 9

    Reset

  10. Step 10

Let's say D3 is playing smart off of O3 and clogging the lane...

  11. Step 11

Throw goes to O3 and is trapped on the line.

    12345671234567
  12. Step 12

Remember the rule? O7 has to clear the space, because the are the cutter who is positioned in the "lane". Notice how O6 has begun to set up their cut.

    12345671234567
  13. Step 13

Maybe the IO break will happen!

    12345671234567
  14. Step 14

Reset to sideline. Now the IO break will not happen.

    12345671234567
  15. Step 15

O6 is the eventual receiver. As O7 clears, O6 needs to "set up the cut". O6 needs to get their defender moving and take advantage of their hips....

  16. Step 16

...and now O6 beats their defender to the open space! Notice how O5 is setting their defender up for the next cut.
