Situation: The disc is trapped on the sideline. We are blue (offense). Red1, 2, and 3, make the "CUP."
Cutters should be thinking of finding open space, but NOT moving too close. Just make sure you're moving around so that Red 4, 5, and 6, and 7 have to pay attention to you. If they don't we should be able to throw to you.
Our handlers (blue 5-6-7) set up like this. One handler directly behind the disc, and one in the middle of the field. We have 2 main options from this position.
#1: try to throw backwards and....
"Swing" quickly to the middle of the field. Now we have lots of options before the cup gets back!
Sometimes the zone "trap" looks like this. For this situation, the handlers need to move.
The handler behind the disc can cut right through the cup. Take this throw if it's there. We will show how effective this is in person.
This cut leaves lots of space for blue5 to get open behind the disc. Just like the Prezi showed, the cutters try to get open after the disc moves, and here is no exception.
Examples of continuation cuts from here.
Examples of continuations cuts. Once we get the disc out of the cup, We outnumber the defense, and should be able to get some easy completions. Remember from the Prezi that the "rails" are keeping the deep player busy, making him choose which way to go.
Sometimes we might only get one forward throw before the cup catches up. This is no problem, and very common. Just find a handler, and we can try to "break" the cup again.
Always a good decision.
