Step by step 10 steps
  1. Step 1

This is just a look at how Pitt will generally flow with the disc. Their focus is using horizontal space to gain vertical yards. Monster swings turn into low-risk mid-range hucks. Arounds are easier than insides, so if you can get the disc to one side of the field and continue, you're making the defense chase you.

  2. Step 2

Cuts from the back of the stack take precendence. Notice how the second-to-last back goes deep immediately to gain his separation. Pitt is always preparing for a successful play and running damage control if the ideal play doesn't happen. THEY TRUST EACH OTHER TO BE SUCCESSFUL. Stack is always pushing upfield.

  3. Step 3

The continuation throw gets off! See how the back of the stack takes off deep again? 6 can throw to 5 but let's say it isn't there. Now what happens?

  4. Step 4

7 would be smart to clear way the fuck away. And the off-handler will often go join the stack if he's trying to create space for his teammates.

  5. Step 5

The dump happens now. But it isn't right behind the handler. Pitt's resets are generally huge! MONSTER SWINGS!!!

  6. Step 6

The stack is disciplined but there is an element of improv occurring in terms of who cuts when. The goal is to continue first and foremost, and it doesn't matter who is doing it. Cutters are ALWAYS pushing upfield.

  7. Step 7

Again the kill shot isn't there. This is probably a moment near the endzone where a thrower will look for a hammer to the break. Let's say it isn't there though.

  8. Step 8

    HUGE DUMP/SWING.

  9. Step 9

    Continuation throw.

  10. Step 10

Kill shot. It won't always be this strict or this formulaic, but this is the basic principle goal they have on offense. Attack the side you're on until the defenses catches up, then swing the thing all the way to the other side and make the D play catchup there. Some might say this is just "regular ultimate" but our team DOES NOT DO THIS AT ALL. So it bears repeating until we actually start doing it.
