  2. Step 2

    Initital vertical stack set-up

  3. Step 3

The last player in the stack makes a cut (typically will start cutting deep, and will either change direction and cut towards the disc (if the defender is covering the deeper space) or continue cutting deep (if the defender is covering the under space) THE CHANGE OF DIRECTION IS INITIATED BY A PUMP FAKE FROM THE THROWER, SO IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE CUTTER IS ALWAYS MAKING EYE CONTACT

  4. Step 4

Let's say the defender is covering the deep space, so the offensive player decides to switch directions and cut in towards the disc

    12345671234567
  5. Step 5

The cutter catches the pass. As soon as #5 changes direction and begins to cut towards the disc, #4 who was the second to last in the stack, becomes the last back in the stack.

  6. Step 6

The NEW last back (#4) makes a deep cut

    12345671234567
  7. Step 7

Then changes direction AFTER THE THROWER PUMP FAKES

    12345671234567
  8. Step 8

Meanwhile, the handler who threw the first pass finally clears into the stack in the front

    12345671234567
  9. Step 9

The thrower with the disc decides to not throw it to #4, so #4 IMMEDIATELY CLEARS TO THE MIDDLE OF THE STACK

    12345671234567
  10. Step 10

The stall count is probably around 5 now, so the handler with the disc should TURN TO FACE HIS DUMP AND THE DUMP SHOULD MAKE A CUT EITHER BACK OR UPLINE

    12345671234567
  11. Step 11

Let's say that cut is covered...the player in the front of the stack waits for the dump cut to finish, and then CUTS DIAGONALLY TOWARD THE OPEN SPACE IN THE HANDLER AREA

    12345671234567
  12. Step 12

The player in the back of the stack needs to be ready to cut once this play is in motion so that the opportunity for a break throw is possible

    12345671234567
  13. Step 13

Once that break throw is made, the stack sets up again - this time in the endzone (WHERE THE FRONT OF THE STACK HAS PRIORITY TO CUT)

    12345671234567
  14. Step 14

The front of the stack makes a horizontal cut and scores
