Step by step 13 steps
  1. Step 1

This zone is desgined to: slow down the opposing team's offence; force them to take risky overhead options; and cause them to make many passes, which increases the chance of a drop/throwaway/block.

  3. Step 3

The "chasers" (1&2) move into position. They always force towards the middle of the pitch, which creates a channel between them for the disc to pass through.

  4. Step 4

The Mid's (3) job is to block this channel, and leave the handler no choice but to throw over them.

  5. Step 5

The mid will also move in to crowd the disc when a cutter tries to crash into the handlerspace. This will block an easy pass, and frustrate handler movement.

  6. Step 6

The remaining two players (4&5) are the deeps. Their job is to intercept high passes going over the chasers and mid.

  7. Step 7

If the disc moves to the other side of the pitch, the chases and mid readjust their positions.

  8. Step 8

And the deeps adjust too, so that the player on the same side as the disc is closer.

  9. Step 9

By leaving only higher-risk overhead shots open, this zone aims to eventually force a turnover.

  11. Step 11

It is important that the deepest defender is not overloaded by offensive players in the endzone.

  13. Step 13

In this case, the other deep will drop back, and the mid back off to cover the middle player.
