Step by step 16 steps
  1. Step 1

This is our base setup on defense. D1, D2, and D3 make up the cup. D1 is the mark, holding a strong force and allowing no break throws. D2 and D3 are standing in the throwing lanes allowing no easy throws up field.

  2. Step 2

D5 is the short-deep. He is in charge of covering both O5 and O6 (whoever is more threatening). If one of the poppers (O5 or O6) run towards the handler through the cup...

  3. Step 3

It is the short-deep's job to yell "Crash!" to alert the cup. The cup will then collapse in on the crashing popper and not allow the throw. When the popper retreats out of the cup...

  4. Step 4

The cup must reset to avoid double-teaming the handler.

  5. Step 5

D4 and D6 are the wings. They have two responsibilities that both involve locking down their sideline. As a wing, if the disc swings to your sideline... (watch D6)

  6. Step 6

...it is your job to play tight man defense on your assignment and not allow the easy continuation throw until the cup is able to catch up to the disc.

  7. Step 7

As a wing, if the disc swings to the opposite sideline... (watch D4 this time)

  8. Step 8

... it is your job to alert the deep-deep of the deep cutter, and then press in on the handler. This will put you in a position to make a play on any floaty swing pass the offense makes.

  9. Step 9

D7 is the deep-deep. It is his job to be the last man back at all times. As a rule, you should be cheating towards the sideline the disc is NOT on, because that is where the deep cut will be. It is also the deep-deep's job to yell "Fire!" when the offense is getting close to the endzone. When Fire is called, the defense will switch quickly to man (1).
