Welcome to the Bath Ultimate V.Stack continuation cutting drill playspedia
The Vertical Stack is one of the most common offenses used in Ultimate from beginners through to International level. The objective of the offense is to create as much space as possible on the field, by keeping all the cutters (and their defenders) in the centre of the pitch.
For this drill we are looking at how a successful v.Stack can roll its way up the pitch and score a goal.
The drill is initiated by the cutter from the back of the stack making deep-under cut.
As they come under they receive the disc from the handler. During this cut, the stack starts to move up the field, and when the new back player hits a cone they cut.
The second cutter is trying to time their cut, so that they are turning to come under as the previous cutter receives the disc. This should mean that this cutter is open when the previous cutter turns upfield to throw. Meanwhile the stack is still in motion.
The third cutter performs the same cut when they hit the final cone, again trying to time it so that they change direction as the previous cutter catches the disc.
When the third cutter starts their movement under, the last cutter can initiate an under-deep cut into the end-zone.
Receiving it in the endzone for the score! This is the ideal situation for the V.Stack, and this won't always work like this in a game, but this is what we are aiming for :)
