Ideally the next throw will be 4 dropping it off to 6 running by.

Then perhaps 6 will hit 2 coming in or 1 going deep or 1 coming in or 2 going deep.

BUt perhaps we don't complete that first pass.

So... 4 makes the cut, but doesn't get it. Our next option is tossing it over the mark's shoulder to the center handler.

Great we get that dump off. 4 continues through.

Maybe 6 hits 4 moving through. If so, cool. If not, we've gotten to the middle of the field and are in a better position than before.
