defensive setup
defender 2 puts on a straight up mark, forcing to the sidelines. 1 and 3 are poaching the outside lanes, giving the thrower a very tight up-line window. 4,5,and 6 and playing their zone underneath the downfield cutters. 7 is taking away anything over the top.
This should force a swing to the sideline. When this happens, defender 1 should immediately cut off throws right back to the middle handle, 3 should come seal off the break side up line, and 6 should take away the sideline
Then, 1 should come mark the handler, 2 should take away the swing, 4 should come under enough to take away the big swing, while also staying out enough to discourage a hammer to the break side.
offense option 1: dump swing
1 comes around to mark again(forcing opposite sideline), 2 poaches the upline break, 3 takes away the swing, 6 takes away the big swing or hammer.
Offense option 2: cutter crashes.
if this occurs, offense can immediately set back up right how it was, defender 3 should look for an opportunity for a poachy d if handler 1 tries to cut to the open swing space. If he stays put, defense jumps right back on him. defenders 2,4, and 5 have to stay tight to keep continuations up field from occurring.
Worst case scenario here is handler 1 gets the disc back in space.
He will have the easy swing where we are out of position to handler 3
in this scenario, defenders 5 and 6 HAVE to take away anything under to the up field cutters!!
if this is taken away, everyone returns to their places in the zone, and the offense has still gained no yards.
