Step by step 4 steps
  1. Step 1

Start: Disc is on the sideline, and play is beginning from either a turnover or a tapped-in disc.

  2. Step 2

First swing: Handler swings to middle. Cutters are doing some bitchin' cuts.

  3. Step 3

Lost opportunity: Cutter is coming in on the far side of the field, wide open for a continuation throw. However, the handler on the same side of the field is too close to the middle handler, and moves too far upfield at a walk or jog, rather than a hard cut – meaning their mark is now free to take away the continuation throw to the cutter.

  4. Step 4

Frozen: The middle handler couldn't make the throw to the cutter, and the far handler is stationary. The disc is now frozen. The mark has had time to set up the correct force, and the cutter's mark has caught up. All flow is dead.
